MyCapitol is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to make Congress legible to anyone who wants to engage with it. We're a small team and we'd love your help — whether you represent an organization or want to pitch in as an individual.
Partner with us
We work with advocacy organizations, journalists, academic researchers, and civic tech groups who share our commitment to transparency and informed civic participation.
- Coalition & advocacy partners. Surface your endorsements, lobbying disclosures, and policy priorities on MyCapitol.
- Data partners. Share datasets — state-level legislation, campaign finance, lobbying, endorsements — that help round out the picture.
- Newsrooms & researchers. Use the platform for reporting and analysis. We're happy to give walkthroughs and build custom views.
- Funders & philanthropy. We're a 501(c)(3), and grant or donor support directly funds data ingestion, AI infrastructure, and the small team building this in public. Reach out about funding the work.
Volunteer with us
You don't need to be a policy expert or a developer. If you care about the work and have a few hours a week, we'll find something useful for you to do.
- Engineering & data. TypeScript, Next.js, Neo4j, ETL pipelines, data quality, integrations with Congress.gov, FEC, and state APIs.
- Research & content. Track endorsements, tag bills, write plain-language explainers, and verify data we've imported.
- Outreach & community. Help us reach more advocates, students, and reporters. Social, newsletters, demos, events.
- User testing & feedback. Use the product, break things, and tell us what's confusing. Genuinely one of the most useful things you can do.
