The monthly fee for direct primary care is capped at $150 per person (or $300 if the plan covers multiple people), so the bill only applies to reasonably priced arrangements.

The bill also clarifies what counts as primary care under this arrangement. It includes basic doctor visits and preventive care from primary care doctors, but excludes major surgeries requiring anesthesia, most prescription drugs, and complex lab work. If your employer offers direct primary care as an employee benefit, they'll need to report how much they're paying for it on your W-2 form. The changes take effect starting in 2026, and the $150 monthly limit will adjust for inflation in future years.
