# Understanding the Thyroid Disease CARE Act of 2024

This bill directs the federal government to spend money and resources studying thyroid disease, raising public awareness about it, and figuring out why some groups of people are affected more than others. First, it funds research into thyroid disease causes, better diagnostic methods, and improved treatments, with special attention to thyroid cancer care and helping people who still have symptoms even after their test results look normal. The government will spend $30 million per year from 2025 through 2029 on this research. This investigation will also cost $30 million per year and will result in reports to Congress within two years and again by 2029. Third, the government will launch a public awareness campaign costing $3 million per year to educate both patients and doctors about thyroid disease symptoms, treatment options, and the importance of screening, particularly for women during pregnancy and reproductive years.
