# Women Veterans Cancer Care Coordination Act

This bill creates a new support system specifically for women veterans dealing with breast and gynecologic cancers. The Department of Veterans Affairs will hire or designate a Regional Breast and Gynecologic Cancer Care Coordinator in each region across the country. These coordinators will act as a single point of contact for women veterans who are being treated for breast cancer, ovarian cancer, cervical cancer, uterine cancer, or other gynecologic cancers—or who have precancerous conditions that might develop into cancer.

The coordinators' main job is to keep track of a veteran's care and make sure everything runs smoothly, especially when a veteran is receiving treatment from doctors outside the VA system. They'll regularly check in with veterans to see how they're doing, help coordinate between VA doctors and community doctors, and make sure everyone involved in the veteran's care is communicating. They'll also provide veterans with important information about emergency care, mental health resources, and how to handle depression that sometimes comes with a cancer diagnosis. The coordinators will keep detailed records in the VA system about each veteran's diagnosis, treatment providers, and progress.

The bill requires the VA to report back to Congress within three years with detailed information about how well this system is working. That report will compare health outcomes for veterans treated at VA facilities versus those treated at community hospitals, look at how quickly veterans get their appointments and treatment plans, and examine patient safety records. This data will help determine if the program is improving care for women veterans with cancer and whether additional resources are needed.

Women Veterans Cancer Care Coordination ActThis bill requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to hire or designate a Regional Breast Cancer and Gynecologic Cancer Care Coordinator for each Veteran Integrated Services Network (i.e., regional VA health care administrative areas). Among other duties, such coordinators must ensure the coordination of care between VA clinicians and breast and gynecologic cancer community care providers.Under the bill, veterans are eligible for such&nbsp;care coordination if they are diagnosed with a breast or gynecologic condition and are eligible for health care through the Veterans Community Care Program.
