# Understanding the Improving Menopause Care for Veterans Act of 2025

This bill directs the federal government to take a close look at how well the Veterans Affairs (VA) is handling menopause care for women veterans. Right now, there's no comprehensive review of what menopause services the VA actually provides, how good those services are, or whether veterans even know these services exist. This bill aims to fix that by ordering an independent study that will examine the current state of menopause care and identify what needs to improve.

The study will look at several important areas: what menopause treatments and services the VA currently offers, whether VA doctors are properly trained to diagnose and treat menopause and related conditions, how easy it is for veterans to access these services, and whether the VA is doing enough to let women veterans know these services are available. The study will also check the quality of care by gathering feedback directly from veterans who've received menopause treatment and examining whether the treatments actually work. Additionally, it will review whether the VA is using the latest research to develop better treatment options.

Once the study is complete—which must happen within 18 months—the findings will be made public. Then the VA has six months to create a plan showing how it will use these findings to improve menopause care for veterans. This means the VA will need to commit to specific improvements in both the quality of care and how easily veterans can access it. For women veterans experiencing menopause, perimenopause, or related conditions, this bill could eventually lead to better training for VA doctors, clearer information about available treatments, and more comprehensive care options within the VA system.

Improving Menopause Care for Veterans Act of 2025This bill requires the Government Accountability Office (GAO) to study and report on the medical services furnished by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) for veterans experiencing&nbsp;perimenopause, genitourinary syndrome of menopause, and menopause stages. The VA must also report to Congress on a strategic plan to (1) implement any recommendations GAO makes in its report, (2) improve the quality of menopause care, and (3) improve the access of veterans to menopause care.
