All advisory board members must publicly disclose any financial conflicts of interest, and the government must publish these disclosures within 30 days.

The bill also encourages faster updates to the underlying dietary reference intake values (the specific nutrient recommendations) by working with Canadian health officials to update them at least once per year. The government gets $5 million per year from 2025 through 2029 to implement these changes. Essentially, this bill aims to make dietary guidelines more scientifically rigorous, more transparent about who's involved and what evidence is used, and more responsive to new research—while keeping the focus strictly on nutrition rather than broader policy goals.
