# Honor and Remember Flag Recognition Act

This bill creates an official national symbol to honor military members who died in service. The Honor and Remember Flag, created by a nonprofit organization called Honor and Remember, Inc., would become a recognized symbol representing the nation's commitment to remembering fallen service members. Right now, there's no official flag specifically dedicated to this purpose, so this bill fills that gap by giving it formal government recognition.

The practical effect is that this flag would be required to fly at numerous government locations on specific days throughout the year. These days include Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, Independence Day, Veterans Day, and National POW/MIA Recognition Day. The flag would also fly year-round at war memorials like the World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam Veterans memorials, as well as at every national cemetery, VA medical center, and post office. Major military installations and the offices of key government officials like the Secretary of Defense and Secretary of Veterans Affairs would also display it on the designated days.

The bill requires that the flag be displayed in ways that are visible to the public, so it's not just hung somewhere out of sight. The government has 180 days to create regulations for how each agency will implement this, and the General Services Administration has 30 days to start ordering and distributing the flags to all these locations. One important limitation is that no employee can be required to come to work solely to put up this flag or any other flag, so agencies need to work this into their normal operations.
