# Holocaust Insurance Accountability Act of 2025

This bill requires insurance companies to provide information about insurance policies that were issued to Jewish people and other victims during the Holocaust era, particularly policies that were never paid out or were confiscated by Nazi Germany and its allies. The law aims to help survivors and their heirs track down these lost insurance claims and potentially recover the money or its value.

During World War II and the Holocaust, many Jewish families and individuals held life insurance policies with European insurance companies. When the Nazis came to power, many of these policies were seized, cancelled without payment, or simply never honored after the war ended. Survivors and their descendants have spent decades trying to locate these policies and get compensation, but insurance companies often have incomplete records or have been unwilling to share information about what happened to these policies.

This bill would make it easier for people to find out if their relatives had insurance policies during this period and what happened to them. Insurance companies would be required to search their records and provide documentation about policies issued to Holocaust victims. This could help families recover money that was rightfully owed to them decades ago, or at least get official acknowledgment of what happened to their relatives' assets. The law recognizes that this is an important historical and moral issue—ensuring that victims of the Holocaust and their families get justice and compensation for property that was stolen or wrongfully taken from them.
