# Reproductive Data Privacy and Protection Act

This bill prevents federal law enforcement from using wiretaps, phone records, emails, and other intercepted communications to investigate or prosecute people involved with reproductive healthcare. Essentially, it creates a legal shield that says if the FBI or other federal agencies obtain someone's private communications through surveillance, they cannot use that information to build cases against anyone seeking, providing, or helping with reproductive services like abortion, contraception, fertility treatments, or related medical care.

The bill applies to several types of government surveillance tools. When law enforcement wants to get a wiretap approved by a judge, they now have to swear under oath that they won't use any reproductive health information they intercept. The same requirement applies when the government uses subpoenas or court orders to get phone records, emails, or other digital communications from companies. If they break this promise and use reproductive information anyway, the evidence could potentially be thrown out of court.

The bill defines "reproductive or sexual health information" very broadly to cover abortion, in vitro fertilization, contraception, medication for abortion, pregnancy-related conditions, menstruation, ovulation, fertility status, and any medical services connected to these things. This means the protection extends not just to patients seeking care, but also to doctors, nurses, counselors, and anyone else helping facilitate reproductive healthcare.

In practical terms, this protects people's privacy during a time when some states have criminalized abortion and other reproductive services. It means that even if federal agents are investigating someone for an unrelated crime and happen to intercept communications about reproductive healthcare, they cannot use that information to prosecute reproductive-related offenses. However, the bill only applies to federal law enforcement—it doesn't restrict state or local police from using intercepted communications in the same way.
