The regulations this bill cancels would have gradually restricted the sale of traditional incandescent bulbs—the older, hotter-burning bulbs that waste a lot of energy as heat rather than light. By removing these standards, manufacturers can now produce and sell incandescent bulbs without worrying about federal efficiency requirements.
