# K2 Veterans Total Coverage Act of 2025

This bill makes it easier for veterans who served at Karshi Khanabad Air Base in Uzbekistan to get disability benefits for health problems they believe are connected to toxic exposure at that location. The key change is that the bill creates what's called a "presumption of service connection" for a long list of diseases, which basically means the government will assume these illnesses are related to their military service without requiring veterans to prove it.

Here's why this matters in practical terms: normally, when a veteran claims a health problem is connected to their military service, they have to provide medical evidence proving the connection. This can be difficult and time-consuming. With this bill, if a veteran served at K2 Air Base and develops any cancer, thyroid disease, bone disease, heart disease, skin disease, neurological disease, reproductive disease, respiratory disease, endocrine disease, liver disease, kidney disease, blood disorder, immune system disorder, unexplained chronic illness, or cataracts, the VA will automatically assume it came from their time at that base. The veteran no longer has to prove the connection—the burden shifts to the government to prove it's not related.

The air base in question was used by U.S. military personnel, particularly during operations in Afghanistan, and there have been long-standing concerns about contamination at the site. This bill recognizes that veterans stationed there may have been exposed to harmful substances and deserve support for resulting health problems. If passed, veterans who served there and have any of these listed conditions would have a much faster and easier path to getting disability compensation and VA healthcare benefits.
