# Plain Language Summary: Reimagining Inclusive Arts Education Act

This bill creates a new federal grant program to help schools teach arts classes—like music, dance, drama, and visual arts—in ways that work better for students with disabilities. The U.S. Department of Education will give money to schools, school districts, and partnerships between schools and colleges or nonprofits to train arts teachers and creative therapists on how to adapt their lessons and materials so that kids with disabilities can fully participate. The goal is to make sure that students with disabilities aren't left out of arts education and can access the same creative learning opportunities as their classmates.

The grants will fund professional development and training programs that teach teachers new techniques and best practices for including students with disabilities. Schools can use the money to develop new curricula, share successful teaching methods, and bring in creative arts therapists—people trained in art therapy, music therapy, dance therapy, or drama therapy—to work in elementary and secondary schools. These therapists can help students communicate better, express themselves emotionally, and develop social and thinking skills through creative activities.

The program will prioritize schools that serve lower-income communities and will try to spread grants across different types of areas—cities, suburbs, and rural regions—as well as tribal schools. Individual grants will last up to three years, and schools that do well can get their funding renewed for two more years. The bill sets aside $15 million total for this program over five years, starting in 2026. Essentially, this is an investment in making sure that arts education—which research shows benefits all students—becomes truly accessible to children with disabilities.
