So if a teacher, lifeguard, or office worker is trained to use an epinephrine auto-injector and gives one to someone having a severe allergic reaction, they'd have legal protection from lawsuits. The goal is to get more people equipped to respond quickly to life-threatening allergic emergencies, since every minute counts when someone's having a severe reaction. States that adopt these broader rules and liability protections would be more likely to win federal health grants.
