# Fire Grants and Safety Act of 2023

This bill provides federal funding to support firefighting services across the country over the next five years. Essentially, it's the government's way of making sure fire departments have the money they need to do their jobs and keep communities safe.

Some of these grant programs were set to end in 2024, but this bill pushes that deadline to 2030, giving fire departments more certainty about future funding. Additionally, the bill requires a government audit to look into why some fire departments struggle to access federal funds in the first place, and to evaluate how well the Fire Administration is doing its job. This audit will help identify problems and make the system work better for departments that need help.
