The bill simply shifts two of these payment deadlines later in the year—moving the second payment from June 15 to July 15, and the third payment from September 15 to October 15. The first and fourth payments stay on their current schedules (April 15 and January 15).

The practical effect is that people who make estimated tax payments get a bit more breathing room during the summer and early fall. Instead of having to pay a large chunk of taxes in mid-June, you'd have until mid-July. Similarly, the September payment moves to October, giving you an extra month to gather the money. For someone running a small business or working as a contractor, having those extra weeks could make cash flow management easier, especially if your income is uneven throughout the year.

This change is relatively minor in the grand scheme of tax policy—it doesn't reduce what you owe or change how much tax you pay overall. It's purely about timing.
