# The CREATE Act: What It Means for Film and TV Production

The CREATE Act makes it easier and more attractive for companies to produce movies, TV shows, and other entertainment projects in the United States by giving them bigger tax breaks. Right now, production companies can deduct certain costs from their taxes when they make qualified productions, but there are limits on how much they can deduct. This bill doubles those limits, making the tax benefit significantly more valuable.

Specifically, the bill raises the maximum amount a single production can deduct from $15 million to $30 million, and it increases the overall cap for multiple productions from $20 million to $40 million. Starting in 2027, these limits will automatically increase each year to keep up with inflation, so the benefits won't shrink over time as costs rise. The bill also extends the deadline for when these tax breaks expire—pushing it from the end of 2025 to the end of 2030—giving the entertainment industry more certainty that these incentives will stick around.

The practical effect is that film studios, streaming services, and production companies will have stronger financial incentives to shoot movies and shows in America rather than overseas. When a production can deduct more of its costs from taxes, it effectively reduces the company's tax bill, making U.S. production more cost-competitive. This could lead to more jobs for actors, crew members, and support staff, as well as more production activity in cities and states across the country.
