During this conditional period, these individuals can work, travel, and access certain government benefits. The bill also requires the State Department to set up a process to handle visa applications from Afghans still living in Afghanistan, since the U.S. doesn't currently have an embassy there, and it requires the government to respond to Congressional inquiries about the status of Afghan applicants.
