# What This Bill Does

This bill makes it easier for veterans to understand and use disability benefit questionnaire forms when applying for VA disability or pension benefits. Right now, when veterans fill out applications for these benefits, the forms don't clearly explain what questionnaire forms are available or how to use them. This bill requires the VA to add important information directly onto those application forms so veterans know their options upfront.

Specifically, the bill requires the VA to tell veterans three key things on their application forms. First, veterans need to know they can choose their own doctor outside the VA to fill out the medical questionnaire form—they're not limited to VA doctors. Second, veterans should understand they can submit this questionnaire form anytime after they file their claim, all the way up until the VA makes a final decision on whether to approve or deny their benefits. Third, the forms must explain different ways veterans can access the questionnaire, including methods that don't require using a computer or the internet, which is important for veterans who aren't comfortable online or don't have reliable internet access.

The bill also requires the VA to update its main website about filing disability claims to include this same information. This means veterans will see these important details in multiple places—both on their application forms and on the VA's website—making it harder to miss. The practical effect is that veterans will have clearer information about their rights and options when applying for benefits, potentially making the application process less confusing and helping more veterans get the medical documentation they need to support their claims.

To amend title 38, United States Code, to include information relating to certain questionnaire on forms to apply for disability or pension benefits under the laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
