This could apply to things like concession contracts for lodges, restaurants, gift shops, or other services that operate within national parks.

The practical effect is that existing businesses in national parks get a smoother path to renewing their leases if they've been good operators. Instead of facing competition from other companies bidding for their contract, they can simply extend their agreement. The bill requires the Interior Department to update its regulations within 90 days to officially allow this new process.

National Park System Long-Term Lease Investment ActThis bill allows the National Park Service (NPS) to extend long-term leases of federal property within the national parks without complying with competitive bidding requirements if<ul><li>the lessee entered into the lease no less than five years before the date on which the extension takes effect and is in compliance with the terms and conditions of the lease, and</li><li>the NPS determines that extending the lease is in the best interests of the administration of the applicable NPS unit.</li></ul>
