This bill requires the Department of Defense to create and provide training about PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) to military healthcare providers and service members. PFAS are human-made chemicals found in many everyday products like non-stick cookware, water-resistant clothing, and firefighting foam. These chemicals have been linked to health problems and can contaminate water supplies, particularly near military bases where firefighting foam containing PFAS has been used for decades.

The training would teach military doctors, nurses, and other healthcare workers how to recognize and treat health problems potentially caused by PFAS exposure. Service members would learn about PFAS contamination risks, how to protect themselves, and what symptoms to watch for. This is important because military personnel and their families living on or near bases may have been exposed to PFAS through contaminated drinking water or soil, and many don't realize it.
