# College Students Continuation of Mental Health Care Act of 2025

This bill addresses a real problem many college students face: losing access to mental health care when they leave home for school. Right now, when students go to college in a different state, they often have to start over finding new therapists, psychiatrists, or counselors because their parents' insurance doesn't follow them, or their home-state providers don't offer telehealth services across state lines. This bill aims to make it easier for college students to keep seeing the same mental health providers they were already working with, even after they move away for school.

The main way it does this is by allowing students to continue receiving mental health care through telehealth (video calls, phone sessions, etc.) from providers in their home state, even while they're living in a different state for college. It also works to reduce barriers that prevent insurance from covering these out-of-state services. This matters because mental health care is often most effective when there's continuity—students don't have to restart their treatment with a new provider or explain their entire history all over again. The bill recognizes that switching providers mid-treatment can be disruptive and that many students struggle to find mental health care quickly in their college towns anyway.
