The bill applies to both private insurance plans and Medicare. It also makes sure that consultation and referral services related to clinical trials are covered. Starting January 1, 2024, families won't have to choose between getting their child into a potentially life-saving trial or facing financial ruin from out-of-network medical bills. The bill also allows the government to help set up networks of doctors and hospitals willing to participate in clinical trials, making it even easier for families to access these treatments. Essentially, this removes a major financial barrier that has prevented many families from pursuing experimental treatments that could help their children.
