# Building Youth Workforce Skills Act

This bill makes it easier for young people to get job training by expanding who can use a specific type of government funding called "individual training accounts." Right now, these accounts—which are basically vouchers that pay for training programs—are available to adults and workers who've lost their jobs. This bill would extend that same option to teenagers and young adults between ages 16 and 21 who are still in school, as well as any out-of-school youth.

The practical effect is that more young people would be able to choose their own training programs and have the government pay for them directly. Instead of being limited to whatever training programs a local workforce office decides to offer, a teenager interested in becoming an electrician, nurse, or software developer could pick a training provider that offers what they want to learn, and the funding would follow them to that provider. This gives young people more control over their career path and lets them pursue skills that match actual job opportunities in their area.

The bill targets a real problem: many young people, especially those who aren't in traditional school settings, struggle to access quality job training. By opening up these individual training accounts to younger workers, the bill aims to help them gain skills and credentials before they enter the adult job market, potentially leading to better employment prospects and higher wages down the road.
