# What the NOSHA Act Actually Does

This bill would completely eliminate the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the federal agency responsible for making sure workplaces are safe. If passed, OSHA would simply cease to exist, along with all the workplace safety rules it currently enforces.

Right now, OSHA sets and enforces standards that require employers to provide safe working conditions. This includes things like requiring hard hats on construction sites, ensuring proper ventilation in factories, mandating safety equipment for hazardous jobs, and investigating workplace accidents and injuries. OSHA also handles complaints from workers who believe their workplace is unsafe. If this bill becomes law, all of that would go away. There would be no federal agency inspecting workplaces for safety violations, no federal standards requiring employers to protect workers from hazards, and no federal enforcement of workplace safety rules.

The practical impact would be significant for workers across the country. Without OSHA, workplace safety would depend entirely on what individual states decide to do, and many states have weaker protections than federal standards. Workers in dangerous jobs—construction, manufacturing, mining, and others—would lose important protections. Employers would have no federal requirement to report serious injuries or maintain safety equipment. Workers who get hurt would have fewer resources to turn to for help. While some states might create their own safety agencies, the result would likely be a patchwork of different rules depending on where you work, and many workers would have less protection than they do today.

NOSHA Act

Nullify Occupational Safety and Health Administration Act or the NOSHA Act This bill abolishes the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). OSHA, which is part of the Department of Labor, sets and enforces workplace safety and health standards and provides related training, outreach, education, and assistance.
