The government could hold onto this Bitcoin for at least 20 years before selling any of it, and even then could only sell a small portion each year. The bill's supporters argue this would diversify U.S. national wealth, protect against inflation, help the country compete with other nations acquiring Bitcoin, and promote financial inclusion by letting people use modern digital currency for government payments.
