# Plain Language Summary: No Fees for EFTs Act

Currently, insurance companies can charge providers for processing these transactions, or they can simply withhold part of the payment as a fee. The bill would make all of these charges illegal.

This change would primarily benefit healthcare providers like doctors' offices, clinics, and hospitals by letting them keep more of the money insurance companies owe them. For patients, the indirect benefit could be that healthcare providers have more resources to invest in their practices, though there's no guarantee this would lower costs or improve services. Insurance companies would lose a revenue stream, but they'd still be able to collect premiums from patients and employers. Essentially, this bill shifts costs away from healthcare providers and onto insurance companies by eliminating what many consider to be hidden fees that reduce provider payments.
