The bill also requires the Department of Health and Human Services to investigate why people with endometriosis struggle to access treatment—looking at issues like transportation, lack of doctors, and insurance coverage problems. Insurance companies and Medicaid programs will be asked to share data to help identify these barriers. Finally, the bill allocates $500,000 for the National Academies of Sciences to study disparities in how endometriosis is detected and treated across different racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic groups, with recommendations due within two years. Overall, this legislation aims to increase research funding, improve patient awareness and support, and address inequalities in how the disease is diagnosed and treated.
