This bill makes it easier to deport immigrants and strip citizenship from naturalized citizens who commit fraud. Right now, immigration law only allows deportation for fraud if the amount of money involved exceeds a certain threshold. This bill removes that threshold requirement, meaning any immigrant convicted of any type of fraud—whether it's a small scam or a large one—against anyone (a person, a business, a fund, or the government) can be deported.

The bill also creates a new power for any court in the United States that convicts a naturalized citizen of fraud to automatically revoke their citizenship and cancel their naturalization certificate. Currently, only certain courts have this authority. Under this change, when someone becomes a U.S. citizen through naturalization and is later convicted of fraud in any court, that same court can immediately strip away their citizenship without needing a separate legal proceeding.

The law would apply to fraud cases going back to September 30, 1996, as long as the person hasn't already been arrested, charged, or indicted before the bill becomes law. This means people could potentially face deportation or loss of citizenship for old fraud cases that were never prosecuted. The changes take effect immediately once the bill is signed into law.
