The TRACK ICE Act requires the Department of Homeland Security to publicly disclose detailed information about flights operated by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP) that transport people in immigration custody. Currently, private aircraft operators can keep their involvement in government operations secret. This bill removes that privacy protection specifically for immigration enforcement flights—meaning if a private company operates a plane for ICE deportations or detentions, the public gets to know about it. Within 72 hours of each such flight, the government must publish flight details including departure and arrival times, airport codes, aircraft registration numbers, and information about the people transported. The bill also requires demographic data about detainees (nationality, age group, family status) and specifics about any physical restraints used during transport. This is designed to increase transparency and public oversight of how immigration enforcement operations are conducted, particularly regarding the treatment of detained individuals.
