# The Jenna Quinn Law of 2024: What It Does

This bill creates a new federal grant program to fund training and education programs about child sexual abuse prevention in schools. The government would give money to schools, organizations, and communities to teach students, teachers, and parents how to recognize, prevent, and report child sexual abuse. These grants would be available for up to five years at a time, allowing organizations to run ongoing programs rather than one-time workshops.

The program focuses on three main areas. First, it would fund age-appropriate education for students themselves—teaching kids how to recognize inappropriate behavior, understand what's not okay, and know how to safely report abuse. Second, it would train teachers and school staff to spot warning signs of abuse and understand their legal responsibility to report it. Organizations that receive these grants would have to report back to the federal government each year about what they did with the money, how many people participated, and whether the programs actually worked. Within five years, a government auditor would also review whether these programs are effective and whether they're duplicating efforts already funded by other federal programs. This is essentially a way to invest federal money in preventing child sexual abuse through education and awareness, rather than only responding after abuse has occurred.
