# Women's Heart Health Expansion Act of 2024

This bill expands a federal health program called WISEWOMAN that currently helps low-income women get screened for breast and cervical cancer. The new law would let this program do more by adding heart disease and stroke prevention services to what it already offers. Specifically, the program would now provide blood pressure and cholesterol screenings along with health education to help women understand their cardiovascular risk.

The bill also makes sure that when women get these screenings and learn they have health problems, they actually get connected to doctors who can treat them. The program would track whether women follow up with medical care and would evaluate how well these new services are working. This matters because heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in America, yet many women don't know they're at risk until it's too late.

The program would serve low-income women, including those already using the breast and cervical cancer screening services and other eligible women in their communities. Health clinics, community health centers, and other approved organizations could provide these services. The bill sets aside $250 million in federal funding for this expanded program over five years (2025 through 2029), which would pay for the screenings, health education, referrals to doctors, and tracking whether the program actually improves women's health outcomes.
