Schools have to post information about concussion signs and symptoms where students can see it. When a student gets a suspected concussion, they must be immediately removed from sports that day and can't return until a doctor clears them in writing. Schools also need to help students recover academically by giving them extra time, reduced workload, and other support while their brain heals.

The bill covers all concussions, whether they happen during school sports, regular classes, or even off school grounds. It requires schools to set up a team (including parents, doctors, nurses, and school staff) to guide each student's recovery and make sure they get back to both athletics and academics safely. If a student's symptoms last a long time, schools must evaluate them for special education services or disability accommodations. States have five years to put these requirements in place, or they'll face federal funding cuts starting at 5 percent and increasing to 10 percent in later years.
