# The AADAPT Act: Training More Doctors to Diagnose and Treat Dementia

This bill funds a program to train more doctors and healthcare workers in rural and underserved areas to recognize and treat Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia. The government will give grants to organizations that can teach healthcare providers using technology-based training methods—essentially online learning platforms that let doctors in remote areas connect with experts and learn from each other without having to travel.

The bill focuses on primary care doctors and nurses who work in places where people struggle to get medical care, like rural communities, small towns, and poor urban neighborhoods. Right now, many people in these areas don't get diagnosed with dementia early enough because their local doctors may not have specialized training. The bill sets aside $1 million per year from 2026 through 2031 specifically for these dementia-focused training grants. Organizations that receive funding must prove they're actually improving patient outcomes and not just using the money to replace funding they already had from other sources. They'll also have to report their results to the government so policymakers can see whether the training is working.
