Right now, if the Department of Homeland Security denies you entry into a trusted traveler program—like TSA PreCheck or Global Entry—or suspends or cancels your membership, you don't have a clear way to challenge that decision. This bill fixes that by requiring DHS to give you an appeal option. When your enrollment is denied, suspended, or terminated, DHS must tell you in writing why it happened, explain how to appeal, and let you know about other options you might have, including reapplying. The department also has to set up a phone number you can call to get information about your appeal and check on its status. If you do appeal through DHS's Traveler Redress Inquiry Program, you'll receive written updates at least every 30 days so you know where things stand. Within 90 days of the law taking effect, DHS must publish all this information on their website so people know their rights. Essentially, this gives everyday travelers a fair chance to contest decisions that could affect their ability to use expedited airport security and border crossing programs.

To direct the Secretary of Homeland Security, acting through the Traveler Redress Inquiry Program of the Department of Homeland Security, to provide to individuals whose enrollment in a Trusted Traveler program is denied, suspended, or early terminated an option to appeal such denial, suspension, or early termination, as the case may be, and for other purposes.
