It also clarifies that volunteer work with AmeriCorps or Peace Corps counts as employment, and it allows people who borrowed money for someone else's education to get credit if that student worked in public service. The bill expands the definition of "public service" to include more types of jobs in education, emergency management, public health, and services for people with disabilities.

Essentially, this bill gives public servants a real second chance at loan forgiveness by removing the technicalities and confusing rules that have prevented millions from benefiting from a program they were promised.
