To make this work, the government will give grants to qualified facilities to pay for veterinary care, staff, transportation, and the costs of releasing animals back into nature. Each facility can receive up to $1 million per year, though the government typically only covers half the costs—the facilities have to pay the other half. The bill also gives zoos and aquariums permission to display rescued animals and their offspring for educational purposes, which helps teach the public about endangered species while supporting the rescue and rehabilitation work.

Essentially, this bill recognizes that zoos and sanctuaries are already doing critical conservation work and gives them the funding, coordination, and legal authority to do it more effectively.
