They have to publish their draft decisions online, hold meetings within 60 days, and give the public at least 30 days to comment before finalizing anything. If someone disagrees with a coverage decision, they can ask for it to be reconsidered, and the same timelines apply. Additionally, if a decision is reconsidered and finalized, interested parties can ask the federal government to review whether the contractor made the right call based on medical evidence.

The practical effect is that patients, doctors, and medical device companies will know when to expect answers about coverage instead of waiting indefinitely, and decisions will be based on transparent processes where medical experts and patient advocates have a say.
