This bill requires manufacturers of menstrual products to list all the ingredients on their packaging, similar to how food labels list what's in the product. Right now, menstrual products like pads, tampons, and menstrual cups don't have to tell you what they're made of, even though these products come into direct contact with your body. This bill changes that by making it illegal to sell menstrual products without a complete ingredient list.

The ingredient list needs to show everything in the product in order from most to least amount by weight. There's one exception: fragrance ingredients (the stuff that makes products smell) don't have to be listed unless they're known allergens that can cause allergic reactions, or unless the FDA determines they pose a safety concern. This exception exists because fragrance formulas are often kept as trade secrets, but the bill still requires disclosure of specific fragrance chemicals that commonly trigger allergies. The manufacturers would have 18 months after the law passes to update their packaging with the new labels.

The bill affects anyone who buys menstrual products—essentially people who menstruate. It gives you the ability to know what you're putting on or in your body, which is especially important if you have allergies, sensitivities, or concerns about specific chemicals. For manufacturers, it means they'll need to test their products, document their ingredients, and redesign their packaging.
