This bill makes it easier for schools and community organizations to feed kids during the summer and other times when school isn't in session. Additionally, the bill creates a new grant program with $10 million per year to help organizations reach kids in areas that are hard to get to—places where transportation is a barrier. Organizations can use these grants to run mobile meal trucks or provide transportation help so kids can get to meal sites. The bill also allows meal programs to serve food during after-school hours, weekends, and school holidays throughout the year, not just during summer, so kids have more opportunities to get nutritious meals when they need them.
