# Understanding the Cybersecurity Education Task Force Act of 2022

This bill creates a new task force focused on getting more people trained in cybersecurity through colleges and universities. The National Cyber Director—a government official who oversees the nation's cybersecurity efforts—will set up this task force and bring together representatives from different types of schools, including community colleges, historically Black colleges, Hispanic-serving institutions, tribal colleges, and the government's cybersecurity agency. The basic goal is to figure out how to expand cybersecurity education programs and make sure the people entering this field come from diverse backgrounds, not just the same narrow pool of students.

The task force's main job is to study how colleges are currently teaching cybersecurity and then recommend ways to improve and expand these programs. They'll look at what's working, what's not, and how to attract more students—particularly from underrepresented groups—into cybersecurity careers. Every year, and then every two years after that, the task force will report back to Congress with their findings and suggestions. This matters because cybersecurity is increasingly important to national security, and the country needs more skilled workers in this field. By bringing together educators, government agencies, and cybersecurity experts, the task force can help identify barriers to entry and develop strategies to build a stronger, more diverse cybersecurity workforce for the future.

Cybersecurity Education Task Force Act of 2022 This bill requires the Office of the National Cyber Director to establish the Cyber Education Task Force. The task force must issue recommendations and guidance for increasing and promoting cybersecurity courses, degrees, and programs in institutions of higher education to improve the diversity of the cybersecurity workforce.
