# National STEM Week Act: What It Does

This bill creates an official "National STEM Week" each year to get more Americans interested in science, technology, engineering, and math. The idea is pretty straightforward: pick one week annually where schools, families, businesses, and communities all focus on promoting STEM education and showing students what kinds of careers are available in these fields. The bill asks a government committee called CoSTEM (the Committee on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) to organize and oversee this week.

During National STEM Week, schools are encouraged to hold special activities and events. Families are invited to participate in STEM activities at home or at their kids' schools. The bill also pushes companies in tech and engineering industries to get involved by offering mentorship programs, bringing in guest speakers, organizing factory or office tours, and providing money or resources to schools. The goal is to connect what students learn in the classroom to real jobs that actually exist in the real world, and to make sure students in rural areas, cities, and underserved communities all have access to these opportunities.

The bill doesn't create any new funding or mandate that anyone must participate. Instead, it's designed to coordinate and encourage existing efforts.
