# What the Stop CARB Act of 2024 Actually Does

This bill would eliminate California's special authority to set its own vehicle emission standards and prevent other states from following California's lead. Currently, under the Clean Air Act, California has a unique waiver that allows it to create stricter pollution rules for cars and trucks than the federal government requires. Other states can then choose to adopt California's standards instead of the federal ones.
