# National Green Alert Act of 2021

This bill creates a new emergency alert system specifically for missing military service members, similar to the Amber Alert system that helps find missing children. When an active-duty military member goes missing under circumstances that suggest they might be in danger, the military can issue a "Green Alert" that gets broadcast to the public through cell phones, radio, television, and digital platforms to help locate them quickly.

The bill requires the Department of Defense to work with the Federal Communications Commission and state emergency management agencies to set up these alert systems. National Green Alert Act of 2021 This bill establishes the Green Alert System Advisory and Support Committee to develop best practices and provide technical assistance to states for the implementation of green alert systems, which would be activated when a veteran with a history of mental health issues goes missing.
