The Go Pack Go Act of 2025 makes it easier for cable and satellite TV subscribers in certain Wisconsin counties to watch television stations from nearby areas within the state. Specifically, it applies to 13 counties in northern Wisconsin: Ashland, Barron, Bayfield, Burnett, Douglas, Dunn, Florence, Iron, Pierce, Polk, Sawyer, St. Croix, and Washburn.

Here's what changes: If you live in one of these covered counties and your local TV provider doesn't carry a network station (like NBC, ABC, CBS, or Fox) from your area, you can now choose to receive that same network's station from an adjacent market in Wisconsin instead. For example, if your county doesn't have a local NBC affiliate, you could get NBC from a nearby Wisconsin county. You get to decide whether you want your local station, the out-of-area station, or both.

The bill removes certain legal and technical barriers that previously prevented cable and satellite companies from offering these adjacent-market stations. It exempts these retransmissions from some copyright and licensing requirements, and it doesn't count them toward the limits that satellite carriers normally face for distant signals. The goal is to ensure that people in these underserved Wisconsin counties have better access to major network programming even if their immediate area lacks local broadcast stations.
