# Save Our Stages Extension Act

This bill extends and expands a federal relief program that provides grants to live entertainment venues that were hit hard by the pandemic. The original "Save Our Stages" program gave money to theaters, concert halls, comedy clubs, and other performance spaces that lost income when COVID-19 forced them to close or operate at reduced capacity. This extension keeps that lifeline going and makes it easier for more venues to qualify.

The program provides direct grants—essentially free money that doesn't need to be repaid—to help these venues cover operating costs like rent, utilities, and payroll. Save our Stages Extension Act This bill extends to March 11, 2023, the time frame during which Shuttered Venue Operators Grant recipients may use grant funds to cover their expenses. These grants provide funds to certain types of entities in the arts and entertainment industry affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Currently, a recipient may use such funds to cover expenses incurred between March 1, 2020, and December 31, 2021.
