This bill creates a new federal grant program to help schools get more girls and underrepresented minorities interested in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and math). The federal government will give grants of $250,000 per year for four years to school districts that serve low-income students, allowing them to run special programs focused on encouraging these groups to pursue STEM education and careers.

Schools that receive grants can use the money for activities like after-school STEM clubs, summer programs, tutoring and mentoring, field trips to colleges and tech companies, and professional training for teachers on how to reduce bias in the classroom. The program also encourages parent involvement and can help pay for internships. Schools must show they're partnering with outside organizations that have experience helping these groups succeed in STEM fields.

To qualify for a grant, a school district must serve a significant number of low-income students and must show it has a comprehensive plan to support girls and minorities in STEM from kindergarten through high school. Schools receiving grants have to report back to the federal government each year about what they did and whether students made academic progress. The bill sets aside $10 million per year from 2026 through 2029 to fund these grants across the country.
