This bill makes sure two specialized forestry research centers get the staff and funding they need to do their jobs effectively. Right now, these institutes may not have enough people or resources to carry out their work properly. The bill requires the Secretary of Agriculture to guarantee that the Tropical Forestry Institute has at least 50 staff members and the Pacific Islands Forestry Institute has at least 30 staff members, along with adequate funding and resources. This ensures both institutes can conduct quality scientific research, run demonstration projects, and share their knowledge with communities and policymakers who depend on their expertise for managing tropical and Pacific island forests.
