Another key change involves "non-disclosure orders," which are orders that tell phone companies, internet providers, and other businesses not to tell their customers that the government requested their data. This bill requires that when the government asks for one of these orders, they have to include a copy of what they're asking for, and the court has to keep track of it. The bill also requires that people eventually get notice that they were surveilled, though law enforcement can delay that notice if they have legitimate reasons.
