This bill creates an automatic sanctions system that triggers if China threatens Taiwan's security. Here's how it works: The President must check every 30 days whether China (through its government, military, or Communist Party) is threatening Taiwan. If the President determines that China is engaging in hostile acts—like military blockades, seizing territory, attacking Taiwan's infrastructure, or attempting to overthrow Taiwan's government—the U.S. will immediately impose severe economic penalties. Congress can also force these sanctions through a special fast-track vote if they disagree with the President's assessment.

Once sanctions are triggered, they hit hard and fast. Within 3 days, the U.S. freezes assets of Chinese government officials and military leaders, blocks Chinese banks from the U.S. financial system, prohibits Americans from investing in Chinese companies, bans Chinese securities from U.S. stock exchanges, and stops exports of American energy to China. The President can also impose tariffs up to 500% on all Chinese imports. Additionally, any country that helps China by selling it oil, military supplies, or other strategic materials faces the same 500% tariffs on their goods. Foreign companies and individuals who support China's military or help it attack Taiwan also get sanctioned. The bill is designed to make the cost of attacking Taiwan so economically catastrophic that China won't attempt it.
