# Defense Technology Report Parity Act

This bill requires the U.S. government to provide Congress with the same detailed information about foreign military technology that it currently shares with other countries. Right now, when the State Department and Defense Department report to Congress about weapons systems and military capabilities around the world, they sometimes hold back certain technical details. Meanwhile, they share more complete information with allied nations through official channels. This bill says that shouldn't happen—Congress should get the full picture just like our allies do.

The practical effect is that members of Congress will have access to more comprehensive reports about foreign military developments, including detailed technical assessments of weapons systems, defense capabilities, and strategic military information. This gives lawmakers better information to make decisions about foreign aid, military assistance, trade policies, and national security strategy. For example, if Congress is deciding whether to approve military aid to a particular country or considering sanctions against another nation, they'll have the same level of technical detail that the State and Defense Departments use in their own decision-making.
